SAN FRANCISCO — Two-time NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo is fiscally strong. However, a catastrophic quadriceps accident helped him understand that he had to invest in more than just basketball for his future.

“Before, it had been only about rescuing my NBA checks and not getting concerned with nothing ,” Oladipo told The Undefeated. “But today it is about generational wealth and taking good care of my kids’ children and life after basketball. It is all about being wealthy and being in a position to really have a strong, powerful memory when it is finished. That’s precisely what I’m focused on.”

The Indiana Pacers guard was one of a number of NBA players in the next annual Players Technology Summit on Thursday. The event, which can be put by Bloomberg, brings professional athletes, entrepreneurs and investors together. Imagine NBA players shaking hands with movers from the technology world, with tunes like”Straight Outta Compton” by N.W.A blaring in the background in a lunch break.

Oladipo, Andre Iguodala, Jaylen Brown and Harrison Barnes all engaged in the event. Additional NBA players in attendance included John Wall, Andre Drummond, Isaiah Thomas, Thaddeus Young, Shaun Livingston, JaVale McGee, Langston Galloway and Shelvin Mack, along with former gamers David West, Al Harrington, Roger Mason Jr., Mustafa Shakur and Derrick Byars. San Francisco Mayor London Breed and billionaire Meg Whitman also engaged.

Oladipo, who had been on a board with Brown known as”By Athlete to Entrepreneur,” said that he had been doubtful about the event initially but was happy he flew in for the event from his offseason home in Miami.

“This is my first time . I have been trying to come for some time,” Oladipo explained. “However, I was sort of on the outside looking in. Let us be true, as athletes we do not believe we belong to this environment.

“I came out here to learn and network. I have been diving in to this area from the technology today I have much more time on my hands”

The six-year NBA veteran was averaging 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game to get a sudden Pacers squad in the time of this accident. Indiana made the playoffs but has been knocked out in the first round without Oladipo.

Oladipo stated his rehabilitation is”going well” and talked to The Undefeated concerning his harm, the time of his return, his interest in the technology world, and much more.

You were playing at an elite level at the time of the accident, and your team had been doing well also. How can it feel for it to suddenly cease?

The ball did not stop rolling. It is just stopped at the moment. The marathon continues when I return.

What was it like watching your staff with no?
It was tough. I watched a great deal of basketball once I was playing with it. But during this accident, I have watched basketball more detailed than any other time in my own career. Man, I wish I had been enjoying it. But sadly, things occur.

God is in control. Everything happens for a reason. I’m looking forward to getting out there and competing.

What are you able to do physically today?
I am still running, of course. I am doing a bit of heart work, nothing severe. I am only trying to relearn everything. Walking, leaping, planting, cuttingedge. Simply trying to relearn everything and build the power back up.

Obviously, I set out that movie of me running and swimming. I am just taking it one day at a time, and you also learn a great deal about yourself through harms. After the sport of basketball is removed from you, you get an entirely new appreciation for this. I have been working in my head and my body when I return I can play at the maximum level possible.

What exactly does your rehabilitation include daily?
Rehab is daily Monday through Friday plus some Saturdays. It is mostly 3, 31/2 hours every day. It is only a constant, regular grind. I have been working hard daily. It is the sole reason why I’m here. I’m where I am now because I worked hard for this.

I would not say it’s simple for me. Nevertheless, it is not quite as awful as it could be for somebody else since I still work hard. If you believed I worked hard earlier, this is an entire different level where I’m working twice as difficult. It is definitely pushing me personally and will be helpful for me in the long run.

Do you have any idea when you’ll play with again?
No, not yet. We are going to see. It is about ensuring everything goes the way it’s supposed to proceed. We are going to see if the season begins when I will return there. I really don’t have a date yet. Who knows? However, I did not always think I would be running at the moment. Rehab is very different for everyone. Everybody’s body differs. We are going to see. You will never know.

Have you talked to anybody who had the exact same injury?
No. However, I did [study ] about Tony Parker’s harm. He was possibly the latest participant that did it. He had been back in seven 1/2 months. This has been promising, but everyone differs. It may take me.

However, I did my research on it and also the way that operation and rehabilitation occurred because of him. I merely implemented it in my life. My mindset differs now. I am only attempting to attack daily, kill daily. Just taking it one day at a time, and everything else will look after itself.
